Reference to Julius Streicher
Dear Sir
I understand the strategy (of now quoting from sources to support his anti Israel/pro-Palestinian platform) behind the change in your diarist’s approach, and in many ways his recent diaries have been a welcome improvement on his past efforts etc….
Am I the only one however who was disturbed by his reference to Julius Streicher?
If my reading is correct, your organ’s Corbynista diarist is using a quote from a man convicted of crimes against humanity, and executed as a war criminal to illustrate the rather anodyne truism that enemies use past misdeeds/lack of judgement to attack the current credibility of the target, a move that later in his article he applied on the Daily Mail. That Streicher, known for little more than his fundamentalist racism, is not the first person who has iterated that point, and that the point itself is neither illuminating nor original, can only lead to the conclusion that the reference to Streicher was used as a shock tactic or ‘Blitzkreig’.
Ironic that your Corbyn apologist quotes from an infamous and virulent anti-semite in an attempt to illustrate his leader’s lack of anti-semitism. To quote from another esteemed organ – ‘pass the sick bag Alice’.
Sincerely,
Anthony Silver
